Fastum® gel (Ketoprofen)

Fastum Gel innehåller ett läkemedel som kallas ketoprofen. Fastum Gel tillhör en grupp läkemedel som kallas icke-steroida antiinflammatoriska läkemedel (NSAID). De minskar inflammation och lindrar smärta. Fastum Gel används för att lindra smärtan av mjukvävnadsskador och stukningar.

Fastum Gel®

What is this medicine?

Fastum Gel is a pain relieving medicine. It is used to relieve the pain of soft tissue injuries, and acute strains and sprains. It also use to treat inflammation and other painful conditions of the bone or muscle. Fastum Gel is only meant for external use and should be used strictly as advised by your doctor. A thin layer of the medicine should be massaged into the affected areas with clean and dry hands. Avoid getting in contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth and avoid applying it on wounded or damaged skin. In case of accidental contact with these areas, you should rinse it with cold water. It is usually safe with little or no side effects. However, it may cause burning sensation and skin irritation at the site of application in some people. These are usually temporary and resolve with time. If they do not get better with time or worsen, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the symptoms. Before using the medicine, it is important to tell your doctor if you are using or have recently used any other medicines for the same condition or other diseases. How should I use this medicine?

How this medicine works?

Fastum Gel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause fever, pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).

Contraindications

Fastum Gel may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor. Fastum Gel is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

How long should Fastum Gel be used?

The usual recommendation is to apply 5-10 cm of the medicine to the affected area 2-4 times a day for 7 days. If your symptoms worsen or persist even after 7 days, stop using the medicine and consult your doctor.

What precautions are necessary while using Fastum Gel?

Use it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the medicine. Protect your skin with sunscreen and protective clothing from sunlight even on a cloudy day. This should be done during treatment as well as after 2 weeks of stopping it.
